Ligue 1 match report Nantes v Paris Saint-Germain 03 September 2022

Paris Saint-Germain continued their fine start to the season in Ligue with a 3-0 victory over a ten-man Nantes on Saturday evening.

Presnel Kimpembe, Achraf Hakimi, Pablo Sarabia and Juan Bernat were granted recalls by PSG following their midweek success at Toulouse.

Just like midweek, PSG settled early where Kylian Mbappe took a pass from Lionel Messi in his stride and worked an angle before he curled into the far corner.

Nantes' evening turned sour midway following the first half after a high studs-up challenge from Fabio caught Vitinha Ferreira and the man in the middle subsequently dismissed the midfielder.

A break in play came over the last ten minutes of the half and in the same light forced PSG to withdraw the injured Vitinha and introduce Renato Sanches.

The latter looked to make an impact seconds to halftime with a ball to Mbappe from a tight angle, but Nantes defender Andrei Girotto produced a timeous tackle and snapped the move.

PSG struggled to hit first gear following the break and allowed Nantes to see a lot of the ball and at that worked a chance through a rasping shot by Ludovic Blas.

The Parisans extended their tally nine minutes in the second half when Mbappe picked up a reverse pass from Messi and finished off the well-worked move.

PSG continued to hold momentum and got a fourth in the last 20 minutes after Nuno Mendes finished off a rebound from the woodwork from substitute Neymar Junior's initial strike.

It became a quiet final quarter with the intelligent off-the-ball runs by Neymar unsettling the host and thus the match concluded in favour of the reigning Ligue 1 champions.
