Mbappe: Messi didn't get the respect in France

Kylian Mbappe has seemingly hit out at Paris Saint-Germain supporters and their treatment towards Lionel Messi.

Messi's two-year spell in the French capital comes to an end next month, with the Argentine set to join Major League Soccer side Inter Miami.

The Argentine did receive a lot of criticism during his time with PSG, particularly after the team's disappointing showing in the UEFA Champions League in back-to-back seasons.

Mbappe has now defended his out-going teammate and claims it's not good news that seven-time Ballon d'Or winner is leaving.

"Messi gone? It's bad news because now needs to be replaced," Mbappe told AFP.

"He's one of greatest player in the history of football.

"It's never good news when someone like Messi leaves.

"I don't quite understand why so many people were so relieved that he was gone.

"He didn't get the respect he deserved in France."

Messi finished his PSG stint with 32 goals and 35 assists in 75 matches, while he also won two Ligue 1 titles.
