Lionel Messi: Manchester City reportedly plan to offer FC Barcelona star 10-year deal

Following months of warring behind the scenes at Barcelona, Messi, 33, has been strongly linked with a move away from the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

City have been widely reported to be the favourites to land the six-time Ballon d'Or winner's signature, and are now said to be preparing an audacious offer in an attempt to entice him away from the Camp Nou.

Spanish publication Marca h/t The Times report that the City Football Group, who control the Premier League side, is planning to offer Messi a 10-year-contract to leave Barcelona.

In terms of the proposed deal, the Argentina international would represent City for a number of seasons before going on to extend his career at any of the Group's other owned clubs around the world.

The potential move would also see Messi become a global ambassador for the business group over the course of the next decade.
