Barca bounce back with big win over Villarreal

FC Barcelona bounced back from the defeat in ElClasico after defeating Villarreal 3-0 at the Camp Nou on Thursday evening.

The Catalans handed starts to Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres who were lively off the bench in the El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid on Sunday, while Marcos Alonso was also restored to the line-up.

Villarreal sustained the early pressure from the host, and after breaking clear through the middle played Arnaut Danjuma in space only for the forward to fire against the side-netting.

Yellow Submarine Manager Unai Emery was required to make a change as Alfonso Pedraza couldn't carry on playing following an injury and was replaced by Johan Mojica.

Barcelona though made the breakthrough on the half-hour mark after Robert Lewandowski turned space in the area and bundled home from close-range.

The former Bayern Munich sharp-shooter completed his brace ten minutes to halftime when he connected with Gavi on the edge of the area and curled into the far corner after cutting inside.

Barca were in complete control and added a third goal five minutes to the break, as Fati charged onto a low ball at the near post and tucked home on the rebound with his initial effort hitting the post.

Xavi Hernandez's men were still in control minutes following the break and a strong block from goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli was needed to thwart Alba's charge.

The Yellow Submarine began to grow in confidence after the difficult opening quarter, but the Blaugrana remained steadfast at the back and kept the visitors at bay.

Barcelona made a double alteration in the last 20 minutes where Hector Bellerin filled in for Sergi Roberto and veteran Sergio Busquets replaced Frenkie De Jong.

The visitors should've had a consolation in added time courtesy of Gerard Moreno's snap shot on the turn, but he strayed wide and 3-0 it finished to the Catalans.
