In Africa: Pyramids suffer blow ahead of Downs tie

Pyramids FC kept their Egyptian Premier League title hopes alive with a 2-0 win, but suffered a big blow ahead of the CAF Champions League against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Egyptian outfit returned to winning wasy on Tuesday after defeating rivals Zamalek.

On Saturday, coach Krunoslav Jurčić had to leave out star striker Fiston Mayele, who picked up an injury in the warm-up, according to Kooora.

Mohand Lasheen, Ramadan Sobhi, and Mostafa Fathy were also ruled out through injury and it remains to be seen if they will be fit for the first leg on Saturday.

Pyramids were able to get the job done with Mayele, as Marwan Hamdy bagged a brace in the second half to seal maximum points.

The win sees Pyramids remain two points behind league leaders Al Ahly, who also secured a win on Saturday evening aganst National Bank of Egypt.

Pyramids will now have the entire week to prepare for the first leg of the CAF Champions League final against Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria next weekend.

Zinnbauer's Kabylie lose in Ligue 1 title race..

Josef Zinnbauer's Kabylie missed the chance to move top of the Algerian Ligue 1 table after a 2-1 loss Saoura on Saturday night.

Zinnbauer's men sit in second on the Ligue 1 table, level on points adrift of league leads MC Alger who have played two games less.

Alger will lock horns with ES Setif on Sunday, while third-place CR Belouizdad travel to ASO Chief.
