Chiefs transfer target closes in on Middle East move?

A top African striker who was previously linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs is close to joining a club in the United Arab Emirates.

Kenyan international Michael Olunga, who has been linked with a move to the Glamour Boys since the previous transfer window, is reportedly on the brink of joining Emirati side Al-Nasr.

Amakhosi have been actively searching for a striker since the arrival of Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi at the start of the 2024/25 season, but their efforts have yet to yield a successful signing.

Amongst the names reportedly on the Soweto giants' radar are Olunga and Congolese international Fiston Mayele, currently playing for Egyptian side Pyramids FC.

With Chiefs seemingly cooling their interest in Olunga, it appears Al-Nasr have stepped in and are now close to finalizing a deal for the prolific Harambee Stars forward.

Olunga recently parted ways with Qatari outfit Al Duhail following the expiration of his contract. According to Twaslnews, he is set to sign a two-year deal with Al-Nasr.

The 31-year-old enjoyed a strong campaign in Qatar’s top flight last season, scoring 12 goals and providing two assists in 19 league appearances.

Should the deal go through, Chiefs will have missed out on yet another player they were reportedly keen to bring to Naturena.
