Wydad coach suffers car crash ahead of CWC final game

Wydad Athletic Club fans have received a scare after the club’s head coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem was involved in a car accident on Monday.

The Red Castle are currently preparing for their third and final match of the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled for this Thursday against Al Ain FC at Audi Field Stadium.

The Moroccan giants have already been eliminated from the tournament, following a tough start. They suffered a 3-0 defeat to European giants Manchester City in their opening match.

More so, they were narrowly edged out by Italian side Juventus FC in their second outing, ending their hopes of advancing beyond the group stage.

Despite the early exit, Wydad showed moments of resilience and attacking flair, with South African star Thembinkosi Lorch stealing the show, although they struggled to convert chances.

The Botola Pro League side will now face Al Ain in search of a consolation victory to end their campaign on a positive note. It remains uncertain whether coach Benhachem will be present on the bench for this final fixture.

Wydad confirmed the incident, stating that the coach was alongside two other club members. Fortunately, they are now in good health and receiving the necessary medical care.

"We would like to inform our fans and the public that a traffic accident occurred this morning, involving coach Amine Ben Hachem, in addition to Youssef Dabbagh, Dr. Hafti, and technical staff Ali," Wydad AC stated.

"Praise be to God, no serious injuries were recorded, and all concerned are in good health and receiving the necessary care.
