Chiefs-linked star 'in talks' to sign new deal

Amid recent links to Kaizer Chiefs, there has been update regarding Lebogang Phiri's situation at French side EA Guingamp.

Several reinforcements are expected to arrive at Chiefs ahead of next season.

The club has been linked with various players from across the continent, including Fiston Mayele of Pyramids and Tanzania-based stars such as Feisal Salum, Denis Kibu, and Jean Charles Ahoua.

It appears the club is prioritising key arrivals in midfield and attacking positions, with very few of their reported targets being defenders.

With that in mind, another midfielder has now been linked with a move to Naturena — this time, South African playmaker Lebogang Phiri, according to various South African publications.

Phiri will be out of contract at EA Guingamp at the end of this month when his current deal officially expires.

He spent last season with Guingamp in the French second tier, in what was his second spell at the club.

According to Actu France, Guingamp and Phiri are now in talks over a new deal.

Phiri and his side missed out on a return to Ligue 1 after losing in the 2024/25 promotion/relegation play-offs.

Guingamp have yet to return to the French top flight since their relegation in the 2018/19 season.
