Ramovic 'inspires new coaching trend' in Algeria

It is now reported that former TS Galaxy boss Sead Ramovic has inspired a new coaching trend in Algeria.

Ramovic has enjoyed relative success since taking over at CR Belouizdad in February 2025.

The 46-year-old joined the club midway through the season after leaving his role as head coach of Young Africans in Tanzania.

Since then, Ramovic has overseen 18 matches at Belouizdad, recording 11 wins, four draws, and three defeats, according to Transfermarkt.

His appointment has been widely regarded as a success, prompting a shift in coaching trends within Algerian football.

According to WinWin, and due to Ramovic’s recent success, Algerian clubs are now leaning towards hiring more coaches from Eastern Europe.

The report claims that a source close to many Algerian clubs says teams are planning to move away from the traditional French and Tunisian coaching schools and focus on recruiting Eastern Europeans instead.

Algerian clubs are now reportedly targeting Croatian, Bosnian, and Serbian managers, inspired by the successful appointments of Ramovic and Algeria national team coach Vladimir Petkovic.

Coaches of Ramovic’s profile are also said to be viewed as more affordable compared to those from other nationalities.

Ramovic also lifted the Algerian Super Cup in February and could claim a second trophy when Belouizdad face USM Alger in the Algerian Cup final on 28 June.
