Riveiro's Al Ahly crash out of Club World Cup

Al Ahly's FIFA World Cup campaign came to an end in the group stages following a 4-4 draw against Portuguese giants FC Porto in New Jersey.

Jose Riveiro's men broke the deadlock after 15 minutes when a swift counter-attack ended with Hamdi Fathy playing in striker Wessam Abou Ali, who showed the composure to slot into the far corner from a tight angle.

The lead did not hold for too long as Rodrigo Mora pulled the Portuguese side level in the 23rd minute with a lovely individual goal after weaving his way into the box.

The Egyptians were back in front just before the halftime interval, with Abou Ali treating himself to another goal by firing home from the penalty spot.

The lively tempo carried over to the second half where Porto were back on level terms five minutes after the halftime break courtesy of a strike from William.

Al Ahly, however, restored their lead for a third time on 51 minutes after Abou Ali completed his hat-trick with a neat finish before Samu Aghehowa hit back four minutes later to level matters.

The clash showed no signs of slowing down as Riveiro's men were back in front after 64 minutes when Bencharki did well to find Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, who carved out space on the edge of the area before picking out the far corner.

Porto did manage to snatch a point in the 89th minute through a lovely strike from Pepe that sailed into the far corner, condemning Riveiro's men to third spot while both sides are officially eliminated.
