Al Ahly punish new signing for penalty miss

Al Ahly have reportedly fined Trezeguet after the penalty debacle against Inter Miami in the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Egyptian giants started life under Riveiro with a goalless draw against Miami in their Club World Cup opener at the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.

Al Ahly were awarded a penalty five minutes before the break when Zizo was brought down in the box.

Trezeguet stepped up to take the penalty after a reported argument with striker Wissam Abu Ali, but the penalty was eventually saved by Inter goalkeeper Oscar Ustari.

According to WinWin, the club's sporting director Mohamed Youssef has decided to fine Trezeguet in accordance with the club's internal regulations.

The report adds that the Egypt international accepted the punishment and apologised to the coach and the rest of the team.

Former Al Ahly star Alaa Maihoub has explained why he feels the Aston Villa winger should be punished for disobeying orders.

"It doesn't make sense for Trezeguet to shoot while Wissam Abu Ali is at the top of the list of shooters, especially since he recently joined the team," Maihoub said on the radio, as per Kooora.

"He should have respected the team's rules, especially since he's one of Al Ahly's leaders. I say this because I love Trezeguet and I hope for the best for the team."
