Dembele's 'move' to PSG takes a new twist

There has reportedly been a surprise twist in Ousmane Dembele's move to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez confirmed earlier this week that the French forward informed the club he wanted to join the Ligue 1 champions ahead of the new season.

The Catalan giants were surprised by Dembele's request, with Xavi claiming the 26-year-old's departure will weaken his side just a week before the new LALIGA campaign gets underway.

Spanish publication Marca have now reported that there is a delay in the deal and the player is expected to return to training with the Barcelona first team.

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Friday that Dembele has been in Paris since Thursday and was set to undergo medical tests before signing a new deal.

Despite personal terms being agreed with the player, the Spanish outlet have reported that there is no full agreement between PSG and Barcelona.

The two clubs are now reportedly trying to work out the finer details of the deal but if there is no agreement by the end of the weekend, Barcelona reportedly expect Dembele to be at training with the first team on Monday.

PSG have had a busy transfer market, as they have brought in seven new players, while they have also been dealing with Kylian Mbappe, who has been frozen out from the first team in pre-season due to his contract situation.
