A surprise African star is now reportedly being monitored by FC Barcelona, with a potential move said to be on the cards.
The Spanish giants have evidently revised their transfer strategy in recent seasons, largely due to their financial frailties, which has forced them to sell some departments and other properties of their club, in addition to a number of players too.

The side has placed a level of focus on acquiring free agents as a result, with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Inigo Martinez being the latest free arrivals at the Camp Nou.The trend looks certain to continue in the forthcoming windows, and it is now reported that the Catalans have already identified another player who fits the bill.
According to SPORT, Barca are now considering making a move for Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi.
The midfielder's contract at Leicester City is due to expire at the end of this campaign, and several European giants have shown interest in securing his signature.
The report claims that after the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League last season, Bayern Munich entered into talks for Ndidi, but his asking price was deemed too steep by the Germans, especially considering that he had just one season remaining on his deal at the King Power Stadium.
It is reported that both Atletico Madrid and Juventus are also interested in acquiring the Super Eagles star's services.
It is further claimed, though, that Leicester want a fee exceeding €70 million (R1.4 billion) for the 26-year-old – if paid, this would place him behind only Victor Osimhen as the most expensive transfer fee for a Nigerian footballer – making it seemingly unlikely he will be on the move in the January window.

Ndidi joined Leicester in 2017, and has gone on to make 192 appearances for the club in the Premier League, contributing with seven goals and 10 assists in the process.
