Liverpool star Mohamed Salah cited as Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema replacements at Real Madrid

The current European Golden Shoe leader with 30 Premier League goals this season has rightfully earned the plaudits during a scintillating debut campaign with the Reds.

Not only has Salah been a revelation in the English top-flight, the Egypt international has been an integral part of their UEFA Champions League semi-final berth, with eight goals and three assists in 10 games.

In the wake of his record-breaking exploits, former Tottenham and Egypt striker Mido claimed 'the greatest player' in the African nation's illustrious history would thrive under the management of Zinedine Zidane within their 4-4-2 tactical system.

"I know a lot of people won't agree with me on this but in my opinion, Mohamed Salah is the best player in the history of Egyptian football," he told KingFut, as quoted by AS.

"I had fear that he would fail at Liverpool but I believe that he is ready to move to the next level. Real Madrid would be able to use his strengths.

"Real Madrid want him," the former Ajax striker added. "We have all seen the poor performances of Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema with the 4-4-2. Madrid would be able to use Salah's virtues."

Overall, Salah has scored 40 goals and registered 13 assists in 45 games across all competitions.
