How much Manchester United paid to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his technical team

The Norwegian tactician's contract at Old Trafford came to an abrupt end towards the end of last year, despite him signing a new deal in July 2021 that would have kept him at the club until at least 2024, per United's official website.

The tactician had taken over at the English giants in the 2018/19 season as a caretaker coach after Jose Mourinho was relieved of his duties, but was later appointed on a permanent basis after 19 games.

The former Cardiff City boss would guide United to second-place finish last season, a result that prompted the club to hand him a longer term at the helm.

However, the Red Devils struggled in the first few months of this campaign, with Solskjaer eventually being shown the door.

With United having released their financial results for the second quarter of 2022 earlier this week, it has now been revealed that they paid out £10 million (R206 million) in compensation to Solskjaer and his technical staff, which consisted of Kieran McKenna, Martyn Pert, and Michael Carrick, according to the Daily Mail.

Following his sacking, the 49-year-old was succeeded by Carrick in a caretaker role, but the former England midfielder would also step down ahead of Ralf Rangnick's apointment as interim manager until the end of this season.

With Rangnick set to take up a two-year consultancy role from next season, United have reportedly begun intensifying their search for their next permanent manager, with a number of top tacticians linked with the job, including Mauricio Pochettino and Erik ten Hag.
