Chelsea: Thomas Tuchel receives huge transfer boost

Manager Thomas Tuchel has reportedly received a massive transfer boost from Chelsea's new owners.

While Roman Abramovich was known for spending large amounts of money with the Blues and often used his own funds for the club's transfer dealings, many signings were controversially demanded by the Russian himself, despite previous head coaches having their own shortlist of targets.

In recent seasons, a transfer committee had been set up, comprising the manager, sporting director Marina Granovskaia, technical and performance adviser Petr Cech, who would discuss potential signings.

However, according to Marca, new Blues owner Todd Boehly is looking to change that model, and will give Tuchel the lead on the club's transfer dealings.

It is believed this move will see the London club replicate the way Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp handle their transfer business at Manchester City and Liverpool, respectively.

It is further claimed the German manager will be given a £200 million (R3.8 billion) war chest to bolster his squad.

With Romelu Lukaku reportedly agreeing to return to Inter Milan, Tuchel is believed to be looking at forward options for his attack, and one of his main targets is said to be Nerazzurri star Lautaro Martínez, while the future of another long-term target, Ousmane Dembele, remains up in the air as his contract with FC Barcelona set to expire on 30 June.
