Chelsea target 5 stars, 8 on way out?

Chelsea appear set for a busy end to the transfer window with as many as five new signings reportedly being lined up, while eight first-team players could be moved on.

The Londoners are currently the biggest spenders in this window, having splashed €186.59 million (R3.1 billion) on five new arrivals.

More incomings are expected at Stamford Bridge as Thomas Tuchel looks to bolster his frontline, with the club having reportedly begun negotiations to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from FC Barcelona, a deal that could see Marcos Alonso head in the other direction.

Aubameyang is not the only Blaugrana player on the Blues' radar, though, as they are also linked with a move for midfielder Frenkie de Jong and are reportedly set to make a bid for the Dutchman in the coming days.

The Netherlands international has been widely linked with a move to Manchester United, but it appears he does not want to make that switch and is open to joining the 2020/21 UEFA Champions League winners instead.

With the young Italian midfielder's transfer all but completed and De Jong's move to Chelsea looking likely, this is expected to push Ross Barkley and Billy Gilmour down the pecking order at Cobham.

The British duo have previously spent time away from Chelsea on temporary deals, but FIFA's new stricter loan rules could see the former leave on a permanent basis, while the latter is likely to be shipped out on loan once again.

Despite the London club's current lack of strikers, Michy Batshuayi is also expected to be sold, with Everton having reportedly shown interest in the Belgian as Toffees forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury.

Meanwhile, the left-sided defender Kenedy have also been transfer-listed after Marc Cucurella joined from Brighton Hove Albion.
