Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil's agent reveals contract extension talks in London are "positive"

The Germany international’s Arsenal future has been the subject of much speculation over the past year, with Manchester United and Barcelona said to be keen on luring the playmaker away from the Emirates Stadium.

Ozil’s contract in north London expires at the end of the season, meaning he would be free to talk to outside clubs from January, although the Gunners are hopeful of securing the midfielder’s future before then.

Ozil's agent Dr Erkut Sogut said: "Ozil wants to play another two to three years in the Premier League.

"Our contacts with Arsenal continue and are going in a positive way."

Arsenal take on Watford on Saturday [18:30 kickoff] but are expected to continue without Ozil, who has not played since the end of September after picking up an injury in the 2-0 win against West Brom.
