Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman in hot water with Audi after driving McLaren to training

Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman has landed in hot water after driving his R5.9-million McLaren to the club's Säbener Strasse training ground.

The 23-year-old winger failed to adhere to the club's rules of needing to use vehicles supplied by the club's shareholders Audi when arriving at the grounds.

Instead, the France international arrived with his McLaren 570s Spider, worth an estimated $315 000 (R5.9m). He's now offered a formal apology.

The German automobile manufacturer, which is a subsidiary of Volkswagen, own 8.33% in shares of the Bundesliga champions.

It's been reported in German publication Bild that if players fail to arrive at training sessions with their sponsored Audi vehicles, a fine of €50,000 (R1m) is issued to transgressors.

"I would like to apologise to the club and Audi for not driving to training with a company car," Coman said.

"My Audi had damage on one of the outside rear-view mirrors. Regardless, it was a mistake and I recognise it.

"To make amends for my mistake I will visit the Audi plant in Ingolstadt as soon as it's possible again and sign autographs and hand goodies to the employees."
