Abdallah El Said breaks Mohamed Aboutrika goal scoring record in Egyptian Premier League

Pyramids playmaker Abdallah El-Said has broken the record previously held by Egypt legend Mohamed Aboutrika after netting a hat-trick upon the return of football.

The 35-year-old netted three goals in the 3-0 victory over Tanta on Monday after being honoured in the pre-match build-up for reaching the 100-goal milestone in the Egyptian top-flight with a guard of honour.

El-Said won 14 major titles with Al Ahly between 2011 and 2018 before his move to Pyramids and despite his advancing age, he has continued to defy odds by keeping up with his goal-scoring exploits.

With 16 goals in 17 league games during the 2019/20 season thus far, the 46-time capped Egypt international has moved to 107 strikes, surpassing Aboutrika's 106 he achieved over two decades.

"I am happy with the achievement, the reward and the records of course. But what is important that we won today and continue winning," El-Said said after the game.

"We are still competing in the league, Cup and African Confederation Cup. This club has been built to win titles and I hope that we will do so."
