A former Al Ahly and Egypt star has claimed that Pyramids FC are in "advanced negotiations" to sign Mamelodi Sundowns forward Lucas Ribeiro Costa.
The Brazilian attacker made a strong impression at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, despite Downs’ early exit during the group stage.

In three appearances, Ribeiro scored one goal and provided an assist, showcasing the flair and technical quality that have made him one of the most highly regarded talents in African football.
His standout moment came in a thrilling 4-3 group-stage clash against Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, where he netted a spectacular goal that was later named the Goal of the Tournament, earning global praise.
Ribeiro’s performances on the international stage have since attracted interest from several clubs, including sides in Europe and South America.
However, according to former Al Ahly goalkeeper and seasoned journalist Ahmed Shobier, Pyramids are currently in advanced negotiations with Sundowns to secure the 26-year-old’s signature.
"Pyramids are in advanced negotiations with South African club Sundowns to sign Brazilian winger Lucas Ribeiro Costa," Shobier claimed.

"Honestly, if Pyramids actually succeeds in signing the player, it will be a sensational deal and a very strong addition to the Pyramids team, especially since they want to sign a new winger to replace Ibrahim Adel."
KickOff contacted Sundowns for a comment regarding Ribeiro's alleged move to Pyramids, but no response was received by the time this article was published.
