Pyramids 'slam door' on Mayele sale amid R45m price tag

Pyramids FC have reportedly rejected offers for the highly sought-after striker Fiston Mayele.

The Congolese international has significantly raised his profile following a stellar 2024/25 campaign with the Egyptian Premier League side.

Mayele played a pivotal role in Pyramids' strong league performance and was instrumental in their deep run in the CAF Champions League campaign, where they emerged as winners.

His clinical finishing and ability to rise to the occasion in continental fixtures have made him one of the most in-demand forwards on the African continent.

Despite persistent interest from Chiefs and Sundowns in recent months, a deal failed to materialize. Meanwhile, clubs from Saudi Arabia have also entered the race, reportedly submitting formal bids in an attempt to lure the striker away from Egypt.

However, Pyramids appear firm in their stance, and according to reports, the club has set a minimum asking price of €2 million (approximately R45 million) for Mayele’s signature.

Now, as reported by El-Balad, the Sky Blues have made it clear they have no intention of selling the striker at a lower fee, who remains under contract until June 2026.

"For now, Fiston Mayele will continue with the team in the new season," a source said to El-balad.com.

"Although Pyramids received numerous offers from Arab and Gulf countries during the current summer transfer window, the offers were weak in terms of financial compensation and did not rise to the level of official negotiations.

"Mayela participated in Pyramids' training camp in Turkey, and, as always, he performed exceptionally well," he added.

"He has been one of the team's standout stars in recent seasons, and we are delighted that he will remain with the team."
