The underwhelming run has sparked frustration amongst supporters and club legends alike, with growing doubts about the Spanish tactician’s suitability for the job.
Even before the league began, Riveiro had faced scrutiny, particularly after the Red Devils’ early exit from the group stage of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
Tensions intensified after Monday evening’s goalless draw against Ghazl El-Mahalla, a result that reportedly left the club’s hierarchy deeply dissatisfied.
According to Ahly News, club president Mahmoud El Khatib is expected to hold an urgent meeting with Riveiro and his technical staff to address the team's poor form.
Crucially, the report claims that the outcome of the 12-time CAF Champions League winners’ next match against fierce rivals Pyramids FC, could determine Riveiro’s future at the club.
