With the new season fast approaching, Ferrera is currently assessing his squad options, and speculation has emerged around the possible signing of Tau, who recently parted ways with Qatar SC.
The Bafana Bafana forward has been consistently linked with a return to Egyptian football, with Zamalek said to be interested in securing his services to strengthen their attacking line.
However, according to a report from Alhorianews.com, Ferrera has ruled out the possibility of signing the 31-year-old forward. The coach is said to have cited Tau’s age and long-term squad planning as key reasons for not pursuing the player.
Tau, who previously enjoyed a successful spell at Ahly, winning multiple domestic titles and playing a pivotal role in their CAF Champions League campaigns, reportedly earned a monthly salary of $100,000 (approximately R1.9 million).
The figure, which he reportedly used to get at the 12-time CAF Champions League winners, is said to be a stumbling block for several African clubs to secure his signature.
