African star linked with R7.1m Betway Prem move

A highly rated star at Malian giants Djoliba AC has been linked with a R7.1 million move to a Betway Premiership club.

The first transfer window of the 2025/26 season is in full swing, with a number of incoming and outgoing moves announced in recent weeks.

Several stars from across the continent have caught the eye of late, including Alou Doumbia of Djoliba.

Doumbia is a 22-year-old full-back who can also play in central midfield.

The versatile star's performances for Djoliba have not gone unnoticed, as it was also reported that he had drawn the attention of Sudanese giants Al Merreikh SC.

However, Africafoot.com now claims that Doumbia is in talks to join Betway Premiership newcomers Durban City FC.

The publication further claims that Durban City's management will have to submit a $400,000 (approximately R7.1 million) offer if they want to secure the player.

It remains to be seen if the two teams agree on a deal.

Notably, the KwaZulu-Natal team appointed coach Gavin Hunt earlier this year.

It remains to be seen whether Doumbia will join the Durban outfit in time for their pre-season match against Milford FC on 26 July in the KZN Premier’s Cup.

An attempt to reach out to Durban City was made but no comment was made by the time of publishing the story.
