With questions still swirling about Thembinkosi Lorch's future at Mamelodi Sundowns, it seems new developments have emerged regarding a potential return to Wydad Athletic Club.
The South African fan favourite returned to the Brazilians after spending six months on loan with the Moroccan giants during the 2024/25 season.

However, Lorch does not appear to be part of head coach Miguel Cardoso’s plans for the 2025/26 campaign, with the Masandawana boss having made it clear that he prefers working with a smaller squad.
Nyoso, as the 32-year-old attacker is fondly known, has been training on his own since leaving the Red Castle, staying fit and focused as Sundowns explore options for his next move.
Lorch first joined Wydad in January 2025 under then-coach Rulani Mokwena and quickly made a mark. He impressed during Wydad’s run at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Although already considered a top talent, his form in America further cemented his reputation. As a result, Wydad expressed interest in securing his services permanently.
However, talks between the two clubs reportedly stalled due to financial disagreements.

Now, according to Moroccan publication Radio Mars, Wydad management has reopened talks with Sundowns, reportedly negotiating with chairman Tlhopi Motsepe in a renewed effort to land the former Orlando Pirates star.
As the new season approaches, Lorch’s future remains up in the air, and what seems increasingly likely, though, is that his next chapter may not be in the colours of the Betway Premiership champions.
