Fadlu: We are on track

Simba SC coach Fadlu Davids has opened up about the club’s big ambitions in African football.

Since beginning his tenure at Simba at the start of the season, the South African coach has done outstanding work, excelling in both the CAF Confederation Cup and the domestic league.

Simba earned a spot in their inaugural Confederation Cup final after beating Stellenbosch in the semi-finals. They are scheduled to face Moroccan champions RS Berkane.

Furthermore, Wekundu wa Msimbazi are currently in the second position on the Tanzanian Premier League table with 57 points after 22 matches. They are four points shy of the league leaders Young Africans, who have amassed 70 points to date.

While discussing the club’s objectives, Davids has stated that his team is moving in the right direction, conveying confidence that next season his side will thrive in the Champions League.

"Simba SC is fully committed to our Champions League ambition,” Davids said, per IPP Media.

"Having embarked on this project just eight or nine months ago, our objective is clear, to dominate the continent’s premier club competition.

"We are on track to qualify for the CAF Champions League."

Meanwhile, IPP Media has also reported that one of Simba’s officials has mentioned that the club’s president Mohammed Dewji’s strategy and vision are the same as the approach taken by Dr. Patrice Motsepe when he acquired Sundowns in 2004.

Masandawana have led South African football for nearly ten years and are currently on the verge of clinching their second Champions League title.

The unnamed Simba official has reportedly claimed that his team is making strides in the right direction to emulate what Sundowns achieved as they seek to dominate African football.

"We are still in the early stages of this project," said the club official.

"There is much more to come, and our young squad hasn’t yet reached its full potential.

"The experience from this Confederation Cup run is invaluable. However, next season will require strengthening the squad to compete at the highest level."
