Esteghlal want 'Pitso recruits' gone

According to reports from Iran, Esteghlal are making a strong push to part ways with two players signed during the tenure of former head coach Pitso Mosimane, including a former Cape Town City forward.

Mosimane lasted just three months in charge of Esteghlal before terminating his contract, citing unpaid wages and other contractual issues.

Although his spell was brief, several signings were made during his time at the club. Reports suggest that some were made at Mosimane's recommendation, while others were recruited independently by the club.

One player reportedly requested by Mosimane was former Cape Town City striker Masoud Juma, who joined Esteghlal as a free agent in November 2024.

Now, a report by Mozzart Sport claims that Esteghlal’s management are unhappy with Juma’s contribution and intend to let his contract expire in June 2025 without renewal.

Another signing made during Mosimane's tenure was Joel Kojo, who arrived in the January 2025 transfer window as an attacking reinforcement.

However, following Mosimane’s departure, Kojo has fallen out of favour and become a target of criticism from fans and Iranian media alike.

Esteghlal are reportedly eager to sever ties with both players, believing they have not contributed positively to the club.
