Mas Fez head coach Pablo Franco Martin confirmed to KickOff that Mabasa turned down an opportunity to join his side.
Interestingly, Africa Foot are claiming that the Moroccan club tabled an offer of €850,000 (approximately R17.4 million) to lure him away from Pirates, but the centre-forward rejected it after consulting with his representatives.
The 28-year-old is adamant about staying at Pirates, as he sees his immediate future with the Soweto giants.
The report also notes that the €850,000 (R17.4 million) fee Mas Fez were prepared to pay would have been a club record, underlining their serious intent ahead of the new season.
Last season, Mabasa scored seven goals in 25 Betway Premiership appearances.
He is also pushing to become Pirates' all-time top scorer, with his 46 goals trailing record-holder Benedict Vilakazi’s 52 for the club.
An attempt to reach out to Orlando Pirates was made prior to the article being published but no comment was received.
