From drifting cars, to changing tyres and going on a hot lap at the Kyalami race track, Orlando Pirates players got to enjoy life off the pitch in fine style on Thursday.
Goalkeepers Brilliant Khuzwayo and Siyabonga Mpontshane, as well as defenders Happy Jele and Abubbaker Mobara, took part in the Vodacom #RedTrackDay and had the time of their lives, after a long season which saw the Buccaneers playing both domestic and continental football.
The morning at the Kyalami race track started with the breakfast and a quick introduction, before the challenges started. Throughout the day Pirates players, together with rugby players, celebrities and Vodacom red customers, went through challenges such as self drive lap, a hot lap with a professional race driver, tyre change at a pit stop and F1 simulator.
Bucs goalkeeper says he enjoyed drifting the most.
"It was a great experience, I really enjoyed. It's quite good getting off the field and doing such things, because it's off-season right now and take our minds off football and do something that is way different from what we are used to," Khuzwayo told snl24.com/kickoff.
"The one that I enjoyed the most is drifting, I think I really did great on it. It just felt different. It was the first time drifting. It's something I've always wanted to do and I'm happy I got to do it. When I go back to Durban, I'll take my car and do a little bit of drifting.
