FC Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati gifted R900k CUPRA Formentor

FC Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati has been gifted a new R900 000 ride, despite not being in possession of a drivers' license.

Fati, 18, is reaping the rewards from the remarkable start to his career at Barcelona after being named as an ambassador for SEAT Cupra – a title that has earned him a slick new ride.

The Guinea-Bissau-born starlet visited the car manufacturer's base at Martorell, Catalonia where he configured his personalised CUPRA Formentor, which was gifted to him as part of his sponsorship deal despite him not yet passing his drivers' test.

The top of the range CUPRA Formentor VZ retails at around R900 000 in Europe, while the lower range models roll out of the showroom for a price between R550 000 and R800 000.

Game recognises game

Fati, who previously featured in CUPRA's 'Going Forward' campaign, joins teammate Marc-Andre ter Stegen as an ambassador for the company, and has been recognised by the brand following his rapid rise with Barca.

"At CUPRA we strongly identify with Ansu Fati's career, a young man with humble roots who fights for his dreams and inspires new generations from Barcelona with audacity and ambition," an official statement said.

"In a short period of time, both the brand and the footballer have forged a path in the automotive and football worlds thanks to their non-conformist character and desire for constant evolution.

"Ansu wants to make a difference and help society evolve, therefore he will be part of a group of young challengers with whom CUPRA aims to be the impulse of transformation in the era of electrification."
