Khenyeza called time on his career on January 2 this year as he looked to take up a coaching role at KwaZulu-Natal rivals Maritzburg United, alongside his former mentor Muhsin Ertugral.
However, his stint at the Team of Choice lasted only three weeks before Ertugral quit the club due to a string of poor results amid their relegation battle.
The 36-year-old followed the Turk out the door a few days later and was heavily linked with a return to Usuthu, who were initially non-commital on the speculation.
But the club have on Tuesday confirmed the former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns forward's appointment as second-assistant to head coach Cavin Johnson and Alan Clark.
