Shongwe has been on trial with the Lions of the North for close to a month, after parting ways with Chippa United during the January transfer window.

“I think they need to establish if we will be able to do it financially. So it’s just a financial thing, but I like him. I think he is a quality player.”
The Lions of the North, meanwhile, will visit Thohoyandou Stadium this weekend to face Black Leopards. Da Gama’s boys have done well in their first season back in the top-flight, currently sitting in ninth place on 25 points.
Lidoda Duvha, who were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup earlier this week, are three places below on 20 points.
