Macheke has been one of Chippa’s key players over the last few seasons and the club will no doubt be looking to keep him beyond his contract, which expires at the end of June.
The Kaizer Chiefs product, who has missed just two games for the Chilli Boys this season, is free to sign a pre-contract with any club that shows an interest in him, but it seems at the moment he is only concerned about having a future with the Eastern Cape outfit. Macheke is in talks with management about a new deal.
"No, we are busy siyakhuluma ([with] Chippa. Ja the chances are high of me renewing the contract. At the moment I'm still playing, I haven't signed a pre - contract anywhere," Macheke said.
Macheke has been linked with the Absa Premiership log leaders, but Clever Boys CEO Jose Ferreira says they have not signed the 25-year-old on a pre-contract.
"No my friend, we haven't announced any pre-contract for anybody other than the ones we announced," Ferreira tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"So there's no such thing. The ones that we announced, six pre-contracts in January, that's the ones we've signed."
