Cape Town City to extend Thamsanqa Mkhize's contract by one year

The 30-year-old is said to have attracted interest from Orlando Pirates, but it seems the Soweto giants have missed out for now and the Bafana Bafana right-back will be staying with the MTN8 champions.

Mkhize has made 21 appearances in all competitions this season for the Citizens, who will activate an existing one-year option on his contract.

"We're gonna extend his contract for another year, and we've got plenty of time to discuss the extension further," Comitis tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"We will extend his contract with one more year because we've got an option, and during the course... from now plus another year we've got plenty of time to negotiate an extension thereafter."

Asked about reports linking the player with Pirates, he said: "It won't happen."
