Cameroon legend Samuel Eto'o praises Konyaspor teammate Lebogang Manyama

Manyama has had a tough time since joining the Turkish outfit in September last year, managing just seven league appearances in the first half of the campaign.

He showed plenty of promise in the early stages of the Turkish Cup, scoring a brace and bagging an assist in Konyaspor’s opening round 3-0 win, before things only went downhill from there as he failed to find the back of the net again.

His chances of game-time further diminished upon the arrival of Eto’o, who left Super Lig rivals Atalyaspor at the end of January, thus prompting speculation of a possible transfer for the reigning PSL Footballer of the Season.

However, the 37-year-old Eto'o, who enjoyed successful spells at FC Barcelona and Inter Milan during his prime, has given his approval of the former Absa Premiership top goal scorer.

“He [Manyama] is an incredible, incredible player,” said Eto’o from Lusaka, where he was attending the recent Castle Africa 5’s finals, which South Africa won.

“He didn’t get much chance to play last season, but I wish him the best for next season because I believe he is a very good player.”

Asked how Manyama could get more minutes on the pitch, the three-time UEFA Champions League winner simply advised that more goals are needed.

“To score more and a lot of goals. He’s a very good player,” he concluded.
