Swallows has been active in the transfer market recently with the headline-grabbing signing of Andile Jali a recent acquisition.
Before joining Pirates, Makgaka spent five years at Baroka FC, where lifted the Telkom Knockout.
"Swallows are considering bringing Makgaka to Joburg, they are carefully watching what's happening in Cape Town because Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker is a huge admirer of the Limpopo-born star," a source tells KickOff.
"Steve Barker will get an opportunity to watch Makgaka in a game-like situation.
"What is left now is for him to see if Makgaka fits into his system, in how he wants his team to play.
"A decision is expected to be made after the Spurs game."
