Komphela reveals ‘dream’ midfield partner for Andile Jali

Head coach Steve Komphela has revealed one DStv Premiership player who would form a 'dream' partnership with Moroka Swallows midfielder Andile Jali.

The Dube Birds' top-four ambitions suffered a setback as Christian Saile's late strike stole a victory for the visiting Chiefs at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday afternoon

Despite the defeat, Komphela was left impressed by his players' effort, particularly that of Jali in the heart of midfield.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Komphela heaped praise on the veteran midfielder and revealed one player he rates to be close to Jali's level.

"You don't teach a lion to hunt, you don't teach a crocodile to bite, it is in the instinct of the crocodile to just be monstrous," Komphela said.

"Anyone who would wish to want to define him otherwise now, even if I would want to break it down in terms of explanation, I would just be repeating what we all know, the guy is phenomenal, the only thing we worked on is getting into top shape.

"He is better than the Andile that started with us at the beginning of the season which is why you see how he plays, in terms of brains, the guy has another level of thinking, there are certain things he does, we learn from, you can't teach a player when to pass.

"How do you tell a player this is the moment to pass the ball, it's not PlayStation. But the guy always makes the right decisions at all times depending on the frameworks we give to say listen, be calm and composed and invite the press.

"Mokotjo from Sekhukhune United is not far off from AJ (Andile Jali) in that position [defensive midfielder],"

"If by any chance one could have a dream where the two could play together, you will have a hell of a great match. Those midfielders are amazing, they are calm and their passes break any possible wall put in front of them. They are great players."

Swallows return to action on Tuesday, 5 December when they take on Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium.
