Jali, Mhango, Zuma receive praise from Swallows star

Experienced trio Andile Jali, Gabadinho Mhango and Dumisani Zuma have received praise for their leadership qualities from Swallows' young defender Keegan Allen.

Although not entirely flying high, The Dube Birds head to their next DStv Premiership clash somewhat on the front foot, having won three of their last five DStv premiership matches and are undefeated since mid-September.

That form is a far cry from a Swallows side that spent portions of the 22/23 season scuffling in the relegation zone before a late run of good form secured a top eight finish.

This season's change in fortune may be partly contributed to a change in personnel, with the arrivals of Jali, Mhango and Zuma among others.

Speaking at the club's media open day on Thursday, Allen was full of praise for the experienced trio, who sounded by question marks when they were signed by the Dube Birds at the start of the season.

"Look the move Tuks I was very young, I was 19, 20. It was just about getting as much game-time as possible. Fortunately it worked out very well," Allen said.

"The move here has also been great in the sense that I have had the opportunity to grow and to learn and to grow with players around me.

"Having the likes of senior players like your AJs (Andile Jali), your [Gabadinho] Mhango, your [Dumisani] Zuma's, these winners. They put within the squad it self a mentality you want to win games. It's been brilliant to learn under them and I'm just enjoying my football at then moment."

The Birds' next test comes in the form of Kaizer Chiefs, who are yet to find their footing this season having collected just four wins from 12 matches.
