Zambian international Augustine Mulenga did not get his name on the scoresheet, but he had a good game upfront. He caused loads of problems for Chiefs with his runs, both on and off the ball. He is not easily dispossessed because of his physique and has vision to spot teammates who are in a good position in the box. He is the man who will play a big role for Pirates both locally and in the CAF Champions League.
Chiefs' defence will let them down
Mario Booysen and Siyabonga Ngezana were poor in central defence on Saturday. If Chiefs want to see themselves winning the title, they need to go out and buy central defenders when the January transfer window opens. Amakhosi have conceded 11 goals in as many matches. Of the sides in the top eight, only Free State Stars have conceded more than Chiefs.
Motshwari a good signing for Bucs
Ben Motshwari had a blinder of a game in the middle of the park, making sure that Amakhosi do not play with the freedom they would have liked. Motshwari covered lots of ground and was not afraid to shoot from range when chances presented themselves, but none of his efforts were on target. He has certainly earned his place in the Buccaneers' midfield.
Castro was not ready to start
Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas had a big call to make on striker Leonardo Castro. Castro had not played since September 15 due to injury, but Solinas included him in the starting line-up. It was clear from Castro's performance that he was lacking match fitness and was rusty in front of goal, as seen in his tame effort early in the second half when he was in a good position. Coming off the bench might have been a better option.
Ngezana will learn from his mistakes
Young Chiefs defender Siyabonga Ngezana had a difficult game, conceding the penalty which Itumeleng Khune saved and also getting booked for a late challenge on Mulenga just outside the box. Despite not having a good day out, the youngster would certainly have learnt from the experience and will look to improve and bounce back.
