Chippa completes new signing

Chippa United have completed the signing of midfielder Sonwabo 'Busquets' Khumalo from Pele Pele FC in Gauteng.

Khumalo has joined Chippa on a short-term loan deal until June 2025. The Soweto-born midfielder spent last season on loan to Orbit College before returning to the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League outfit.

The midfielder could be in line to make his debut for the Chilli Boys when they take on Golden Arrows in a Nedbank Cup Last 32 fixture at the Mpumalanga Stadium on Saturday.

Former Bafana Bafana head coach Augusto Palacios, who moulded Khumalo at Orlando Pirates Development Academy, believes the 23-year-old will make it at Chippa.

"He is from my academy. I promoted him to Pirates. He is a very good player, both defensive and attacking. He has a good height and technique. I believe he has potential if he can take his football seriously. He trained with the first team and I believe was later loaned out.

"As I said, he has huge potential if he can take his football seriously," Palacios tells KickOff.com.
