Percy Tau's current contract with Qatari Stars League side Qatar SC could reportedly block a potential return to Egypt.
Tau penned a six-month contract with Qatar SC in January 2025 after leaving the 12-time CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly, where he had been for three-and-a-half years.
Tau's 2024/25 season ended on Sunday when his team was knocked out of the Emir Cup after losing 1-0 to Al Ahli. Qatar finished the league in 10th place in the 12-team table.

The Bafana Bafana vice-captain played 11 matches across all competitions without scoring any goals and providing two assists.
With the season concluded, recent reports have surfaced indicating that Zamalek intends to sign the former Brighton & Hove Albion FC winger, with his contract with Qatar expiring this June.
Nonetheless, his contract reportedly contained a clause that stipulated his deal could be extended by two seasons if Tau performs well, which, according to Arabian publication Twaslnews.com, could jeopardize his prospective transfer to Zamalek.
"South African Percy Tau, the former Al Ahly winger and current Qatar SC player, is on the list of targeted deals for the upcoming summer transfer window for the White Castle," a source told Twaslnews.com.

"The planning committee is facing some obstacles in the Percy Tau deal, most notably that the player is bound by a contract with his club, Qatar SC.
"Zamalek officials will have to negotiate with his club as a first step, and then agree with the player on the financial compensation he wants to receive."
