Kgosi Ntlhe rejoins Scunthorpe United on short-term deal

One-cap South Africa international Kgosi Ntlhe has completed a return to Scunthorpe United in England.

Ntlhe was recently unveiled as a new signing by Scunthorpe United with the club confirming his arrival on a short-term deal ahead of the 2022/23 season.

"Scunthorpe United is delighted to have completed the signing of defender Kgosi Ntlhe on a six-month deal," the club said in a statement.

The move sees Ntlhe, who won his solitary Bafana Bafana cap against Morocco in 2013,  return to Glanford Park where he previously made 21 appearances for the then-League Two outfit.

"I'm grateful to get it over the line," the 28-year-old said. "I've been here for a couple of weeks now and training has been hard, but it's good to be back."

Ntlhe will also have the opportunity to work with a familiar face in head coach Keith Hill, who was his manager during their shared time at Rochdale between 2017 and 2019.

"He's somebody I trust and who I'm going to put my belief in. He's at a great age for a footballer with respect to experience," Hill added.

"He has to crunch the games out, we know that, and I'm not standing here trying to create a magic trick. I know Kgosi really well, he knows me and the demands I'm going to put him under.

"I'm expecting him to crunch the games and the training days out as that's where it's really important.

"He's versatile too. He's got to get his robustness back and if we get him on the training pitch and playing games, he's a fabulous player. I don't believe the Scunthorpe public has seen the best of him yet."

Scunthorpe are set to take part in the fifth-tier National League this season after suffering relegation from League Two at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
