The 17-year-old Santos striker spent a week with the Eredivisie club.
"For me the trip was good because even though I went there for a trial, at the same time I was going there to learn,” he told Santos’ official website.
"So for any player on trial if you don't make it you need to come back to your club having learnt from the experience."
Lakay, a surprise call-up to Shakes Mashaba’s recent Bafana Bafana squads, also reflected on the differences between South African football and that in the Netherlands.
"In my experience in South Africa you have less time on the ball, but over there you have a lot of space to do what you want to do. If you understand the game and if you can pass, then you can play there."
