Foster to return in Burnley's title decider?

With the EFL Championship title up for grabs, Burnley FC head coach Scott Parker has provided an update regarding the injury situation of Lyle Foster ahead of their all important final league match.

Foster missed Burnley’s latest four matches after sustaining an injury during the Clarets’ EFL Championship game against Derby County earlier last month.

Aside from Foster’s injury, Parker is facing a significant challenge ahead of Saturday’s title decider against Millwall, as forward Zian Flemming is not eligible to play against Millwall due to the terms of the loan agreement.

Additionally, English striker Ashley Barnes has not been a regular participant this season, having played only 12 matches with no league starts since re-joining the club in January.

Parker addressed Foster’s injury and outlined his strategy for facing Millwall on Saturday at the Turf Moor Stadium.

"We'll start prepping and we'll get to that decision, how we go about it and what feels the best way to try and get the three points and for us to be our strongest," Parker said, Per Burnley Express.

"There's some options there and we'll get to that decision in due course. We've not really discussed in great detail next year or certainly how it would look in terms of players' contracts.

"We’ve got one game left and that's been the main focus. But Ashley Barnes has been incredible since he's come in and there’s an opportunity for him at the weekend as well, depending on the decision I make," he added.

"Either way, if he starts or he comes off the bench, we know it's a given with what we'll see. Lyle's [Foster] is doing okay, he's back training with us, but He's not in full training, he's only been partially training.

"We'll have to make a call on Lyle pretty late really. It might be a bit too much or might come a little bit early, but he's progressing really well."

Burnley have already secured promotion to the English Premier League, but a victory against Millwall will result in them being crowned champions, provided that league leaders Leeds United either lose or draw against Plymouth Argyle.
