Bafana Bafana defender Siyabonga Ngezana is back within sight of another season of silverware in Europe after surfing his way past the halfway stage of the Romanian championship-deciding phase unscathed.
The championship round of the Romania’s top league reached the mid-point on Monday with FCSB enjoying a three-point lead over second-placed Universitatea Craiova.

With this phase played over 10 matches, it means there are five more games to play over the next five weeks to determine the Romanian champions.
FCSB won last year’s title and with 39 points in the bag are in firm control to defend the trophy, which comes with a UEFA Champions League qualifiers ticket.
They started the Championship Play-Offs in top place after finishing with the most points (56) during the regular season and have since won three and drawn two.
The top six teams in the regular season (30 games played) had their points halved, rounded upwards, with no other records carried over before they then play each other twice.
The team finishing top after the 10 games in the championship round is crowned champions.
After missing the first match of the championship round due to suspension after being handed his first red card in professional football, Ngezana has now played every minute of the last four without any caution.
This has then meant the 27-year-old has come within one appearance of reaching 70 games for FCSB since joining them at the beginning of last season.

The former Kaizer Chiefs defender won the league with FCSB in his first season and then added the Romanian Super Cup in July, pushing him to two winners’ medals within a year after failing to land any while with Amakhosi.
Ngezana played in the Europa League Last 16 this season after progressing from the group stage with his club and played five matches in the Champions League qualifiers.
