Molefi Ntseki confirms Andile Jali, Bongani Zungu blow

Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki has confirmed another midfield blow ahead of their final 2021 AFCON qualifier against Sudan this weekend.

After playing to a 1-1 draw at home to Ghana on Thursday evening at FNB Stadium, Bafana need a result in Khartoum to qualify for the AFCON finals in Cameroon next year.

Andile Jali was one of the big casualties last night as he was forced off inside the opening 25 minutes of the match with a groin injury, and Ntseki has confirmed the seriousness of the event.

"For him to get injured and be pulled out means it is something serious, but we are still to get a medical report from the doctors," said Ntseki after the game.

Meanwhile, Rangers midfielder Bongani Zungu will no longer be joining the camp in Sudan, as initially suggested by his tweet earlier this week and subsequently confirmed by snl24.com/kickoff.

"On Wednesday, we got an email from Zungu's club to say they are no longer releasing him – whether it's coming to South Africa or going to Sudan," further confirmed the national team boss.

"I then spoke to him and explained the situation, and he said, 'It's a decision that will work against me if ever I force to come to Sudan.'

"We saw a new list of countries that are being referred to as 'red zones', and in this case we have Dubai and Ethiopia, which is where players were going to have to come via to get to Sudan."
