Junior Khanye unhappy with Bafana Bafana preparations for AFCON qualifiers

Ahead of crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sao Tome and Principe on Friday and Monday, the former Kaizer Chiefs star is not happy with the way thing are shaping up.

Khanye has become somewhat of a pundit and analyst recently and is never shy to share honest viewpoints on everything happening in South African soccer.

"I'm very disappointed with South African football, I'm very disappointed with Molefi Ntseki and with SAFA as a whole for appointing Molefi Ntseki and that by now he is still a coach," Khanye opens up to snl24.com/kickoff.

"If he was an intern he would have been removed already. He is inexperienced, his squad is not balanced.

"You cannot go to a game like this and select players that you didn't select for the Zambia and Namibia friendlies, because that was supposed to be used as preparation for this week's games.

"The national team is not like the DStv Premiership whereby you train and play week in and week out. It tells you a lot about the guy's experience not being enough. Ntseki needs to first prove himself in the DStv Premiership or in the GladAfrica [Championship] how good he is.

"The current squad is a different team to the one he named for the friendlies. I don't see South Africa doing well."

Junior Khanye has welcomed Chiefs' decision to change the coaches and believes the club should also reassess other areas

Khanye, who never managed to reach his own potential during his playing career, also comes down hard on SAFA for arranging to play both qualifiers against Sao Tome in South Africa.

"What are they trying to achieve bro?" asks Khanye. "There's something wrong. It tells you about South African football. Why are we scared to go to that side? Because we are supposed to play home and away. It's a daylight robbery again."

SAFA's statement on this particular matter was as follows:

'The two countries mutually agreed that due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, it was in the best interest of the two that they do everything in their power to safeguard the interest of players and officials.

'Therefore, both parties agreed that the first and return-leg matches will all be played in South Africa.

'The two nations agreed that this historic arrangement that has since been relayed to CAF was precipitated by flight restrictions within the African continent and health dangers posed by the coronavirus pandemic.'
