Broos' first international break as South Africa's head coach drew to a close at the FNB Stadium on Monday after Bafana Bafana recorded an impressive 1-0 victory over Ghana in their 2022 FIFA World Cup CAF Group G qualifier.
The national team's victory was made all the more impressive by the performances of a host of young players on the night, including Ethan Brooks (20), Evidence Makgopa (21) and match-winner Bongokuhle Hlongwane (21).
"One day you have to give them a chance," Broos said after the match. "You can't use the excuse that they're not experienced. Because when will a young boy be experienced when they don't play?
"So one day you have to give them a chance and I will do that here from the first day I arrived in South Africa. It's up to them then to take those chances.
"I think, if I can use the example today of Ethan Brooks, he produced a very, very good game today. So he took his chance, and over the next few months, all the young players will get their chance.
"If that succeeds then you can build a team for years and this is something that I like to do in Africa. Up to now, we can be very, very happy with the young boys."
