Broos has brought Macedonian tactician Cedomir Janevski as his first assistant and will now be joined by former Orlando Pirates and Bafana midfielder Helman Mkhalele as his local assistant.
The Belgian had earlier publically declared former national team coach Molefi Ntseki as his preferred candidate but SAFA moved to rubbish the claim before subsequent negotiations reached an impasse.
snl24.com/kickoff understands that Ntseki's earlier sacking in March had initially been seen as a blemish within the association's hierarchy prior to an offer being presented to him, but a counter offer from his management team is reported to have been rejected.
In a statement on Friday afternoon, following a press briefing by CEO Tebogo Motlanthe, it was confirmed that Mkhalele will now step up from his role as national under-20 mentor to aid the new regime in their quest over the next five years.
